Urgent Need For Blood

2014-08-20 Blood drive flyer

We are in the midst of the 100 most deadly days of summer but at the same time we also have 100 days of hope! Hope that our community will respond to our call for much needed blood donations.

We have had 80,000 fewer blood donations since May than expected!

If you are looking for a way to help your community but don’t have a lot of time to give then joining us for our blood drive on August 20, 2014 from 3:00pm -7:00pm is the perfect way for you to give back.

Bring a friend! If every donor now through the end of summer brought a friend to donate, we could prevent an emergency situation.

Spaces are limited so for more information and to schedule your appointment please call (702) 369-3149 today!

You can also reserve your appointment time by logging on to redcrossblood.org and enter the Sponsor Code: So NV Chapter.

As an added bonus all presenting donors will receive 2 tickets for the Marc Savard Comedy Show at the V Theatre and be able to enter to win a $100 gift card (drawing to be held at the end of August)

If you have questions regarding your eligibility to donate blood, please call 1-866-236-3276.

Red Cross Response to Carpenter 1 Fire Continues

Red Cross Response to Carpenter 1 Fire Continues

Additional volunteers mobilized to assist staff

Las Vegas, NV. Saturday, July 6, 2013 The American Red Cross continues its relief response in wildfire affected areas around the Las Vegas and Pahrump valleys. Reception centers in Pahrump and Las Vegas continue to offer food, water, and emotional support.

Total numbers since the beginning of the wildfire response are as follows:

  • 336 meals have been provided.
  • 30 Red Cross responders today have been working in various aspects
  • 2 people and 2 pets were provided with shelter and food

In addition to meals provided to evacuees, Red Cross volunteers were police escorted into the evacuated area to provide meals to government responders.  Responders included Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, Nevada Highway Patrol and Forestry personnel.

Red Cross has been working with, and convening community partners in rolling out a comprehensive response. From schools as reception centers to governments reaching out with animal care, the Las Vegas community has come together to support our neighbors who have been displaced.

Over the next several days and weeks, Red Cross client casework volunteers will stay in contact with the victims and provide referrals, as they begin their road to recovery.
